If you think your channel name isn’t working for you or your brand anymore, then there’s no reason for you to keep it!
Having the right Youtube name is vital for your channel’s success. It’s what your viewers will remember about you most of all.
Coming up with a brand-spanking, substance-holding Youtube name is a result of hours and hours of trial and error. So if you finally got it, don’t be afraid to flaunt it!
However, please keep in mind that Google only allows you to change your Youtube name three times every three months. So don’t play around with your name until you’re absolutely sure!
How to Change Your Youtube Name
Ready to reinvent your brand? These steps will guide you if you want to change your Youtube name for the first time.
If you’re sure, you have to know that changing your account name will affect those who want to find you, including those who wish to cite your videos for research purposes.
STEP 1: Sign in to your Youtube account. If you’re already logged in on Chrome or any Google product, you can skip this step.
If you can see your Youtube profile picture in the upper-right corner then you’ll know that you’re signed in.
STEP 2: Go to Youtube. On the top-right corner, click on your account icon. After clicking, a drop-down menu should appear. Select “Settings.”
STEP 3: After taken to your channel overview, you’ll see your Youtube name hyperlinked with the option “Edit on Google.”
This integration is because all Google products such as Google Drive, Google Plus, Gmail, and Youtube are linked to the same account.
This means that when you change your Youtube name, the changes you’ll make will also reflect on those accounts.
STEP 4: After clicking on “Edit on Google,” a new page will appear where you can enter your new Youtube account name.
If your new name consists of multiple words, split the name into two parts, and fill up the “First Name” and “Last Name” sections.
You’ll notice that there is a notification from Google stating that your new account name will also reflect on your linked Googled products.
STEP 5: After filling up the necessary sections, click the “OK” button. A Google pop-up will then appear asking you if you’re sure you want to change your Youtube account name.
If you changed your mind about making a new Youtube name, then that is the time to back out. Once you click the “Change Name” button, there’s no going back.
The changes made with your name aren’t always immediately updated. Give it a few minutes, and you can see your Youtube name newly-changed.
