An accordion fold is a craft and bindery term referring to any fold created by folding paper or cardstock in an accordion-like fashion. Greeting cards, invitations, and brochures often utilize this format due to its multiple surface areas for customization.
This format is formed by folding paper or cardstock in half lengthwise and folding it back over itself a few times until a series of accordion-like folds are created.
To create this format, you will require at least an 8.5 by 11 piece of paper or cardstock – such as printer paper, or half a sheet of cardstock will work fine. When your fold is in place, cut away and trim to desired dimensions.
Remember that each panel will be approximately half as big as your overall plan when designing for this format.
