When a book goes “out of print,” it means that the publisher has decided to stop printing copies of that book. It doesn’t mean that the book is rare or valuable, but simply that the publisher is no longer selling it.

There are a number of reasons why a publisher might decide to stop printing a book. The book may no longer be selling well, or the publisher may have decided to focus on other titles. In some cases, the copyright on a book may have expired, and the publisher may have decided not to renew it.

Whatever the reason, when a book goes out of print, it can be difficult for readers to find copies. Libraries may still have copies, but once their copies wear out, they may not be able to replace them. Used bookstores may have copies, but they may be expensive.

Fortunately, there are a few ways to find out-of-print books. There are online used bookstores, such as AbeBooks, that specialize in hard-to-find titles. There are also services that will print books on demand, such as PODBooks and Lulu. And, of course, there’s always the library.

The out-of-print status of a book is an important factor to consider when deciding whether or not to print a book. A book that is out-of-print is no longer being published by the publisher and is no longer readily available for purchase. This can make it difficult for readers to obtain a copy of the book, which can impact its popularity. A book that is out-of-print may also be more expensive to purchase, as it is less likely to be produced in large quantities. For these reasons, it is important to consider the out-of-print status of a book when making the decision to print it.

CJ grew up admiring books. His family owned a small bookstore throughout his early childhood, and he would spend weekends flipping through book after book, always sure to read the ones that looked the most interesting. Not much has changed since then, except now some of those interesting books he picks off the shelf were designed by his company!
