  1. Please consider putting up a demo page for your themes. It is really hard to know exactly what it will look like. The larger pic of this one at WP is goofed up.

  2. I love the look of this theme. Is there a discussion board for support? There are some minor issues, especially when attempting to the The Events Calendar plug-in. Things don’t line up right. Also, can the sidebar include a different section or must it all be in one?

  3. This a really, really nice theme! I love it. However: in it’s current form I have a problem with the fact that the blog title and tagline overlap!

    How to fix this?

    Tested on MacBook pro with Firefox/Chrome/Safari (all latest version).

    • The best way to go about this is to use something like the all-in-one seo plug-in that lets you create meta tags for each page.

  4. Hi there, I love the theme, thank you! However, it would be good if you could allow to include a favicon. I have modified the header.php file as follows:

    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico” />

  5. Hi, we are using your theme for our newsletter. We have designed and uploaded our own header. We can upload the header fine, however the name of the blog still appears over the customized header. When I attempt to remove it through the blog settings, it actually removes the blog from my menu. So, it needs a title. I attempted to put a space in the title to “trick it” but apparently WordPress is smarter than I and caught on to my trick and didn’t like it. Currently, I put a period in there but the period is visible and in the way of text. Is there a way to hide the title through the code that I can do myself or anything else you can suggest?

  6. I also LOVE this theme, fits especially well with the site I am (trying) to jazz up!

    Just wondering how you put a facebook like button on it? I have added the plugin and have cut and pasted the code into the single.php bit but nothing seems to be working. Any suggestions?

    I would also love to be able to edit/delete the heading of the page as you can see on this test site http://dev.home-ed.vic.edu.au/ the words are too dark for the pic and I was thinking of trying to use the logo in its complete form which would mean deleting the title (Home education network) entirely. Any help very much appriciated!

  7. I love this theme, but it’s giving me trouble when installing Disqus. The comments appear in the wooden background, not on the white page part. How can I go about fixing this?

  8. Does anyone know how to change the red text to blue? I’ve tried updating all of the hex values to the color I want but can’t seem to get it right! Thanks!

  9. Hi!
    I love this theme….but I don’t find in the page editor the way to do not show comments and author…I don’t want in all the pages the “written by…” text and the comments at the end 🙁
    can you help me? many thanks!

  10. I’m trying to moddify the footer option in order to include the Google Analytics code but I pasted it and I couldn’t save it. I have a message saying that I have to have permission to save files to do that. How can I do this, please?

  11. If you want to change all the text that comes up in red to a different color, simply go to the style.css sheet and then do a CTRL+F on #C00. This is the color red and you can replace it with any other color code you wish.

  12. I am also wondering if anyone knows how to change the big red letters that appear on the first word at the top of each page.

    No luck with all my efforts.

    Thanks in advance for any help!

  13. Hello: I made a static front page using this theme for a home page and in doing so, I somehow changed something in the style.css and the text is all too far to the left. I have been trying to find the answer to this problem within the code but cannot. Can you help?

    Thanks!

  14. Is there a way to hide or remove the code displayed under the comments box. The design is great but the presence of the code is a little distracting from an otherwise fantastic product.

    Thanks

  15. Is there a way to remove the title and tag line? I don’t want to mess up the code, but I want those two elements removed. My header image will feature my logo. Thanks!

  16. hey, this is such a great theme, but I have started to translate it in romanian… because this is the language of the blog, and I can’t find the code for the main page and the “Leave Reply” code … It would be great if you could help because I have translated everthing else, and looks preaty wierd that only the 1st page and the comments sections are in english. Thank you so much !

  17. hey,

  18. Hi there,

    in the blog-overview, i got only the first line of the post and then the read-more-text.

    Where i can change this to 2 or 3 lines?

    Thx, Frank 🙂

  19. hi i love this layout and this week i had the help of a great designer playing with it and then she changed the side color and i did not like it and she quit on me. now i am stuck with an inked in overcolor that i dislike and want my origninal wood panels back. i have had this layout for over 6 months and in one week it has gone from doable to great!!!to i am really not liking the change. please give me some advice on how to get the original wood panels back and the stuff she did otherwise was genius and i love like the header and the subtitles but the inked in color is really irritating…

    • You can go into the custom background tab and press “remove background” this should revert it back to the wood grain background.

  20. Hello,
    My compliments for your great themes. I want to use the Fresh Ink Magazine for my website i am working on.
    My question is the rss directly above the header image. I do not want that. How can i make it go away and do i have tot make header image larger?

    Regards,
    Har

  21. hi…i went to the custom background tab and there was no remove background for me to press. i did try to substitute a different color other than black but it did not take…

    can you send me an email about any more advice you can give me…

  22. Hello:

    I am using the theme and really like it. I do have a question or two. Can you tell me how to make the headimg (header image) linkable to the home page? In other words, how to make it so that a reader can click the header image at the top of the page on one of the blog entries to get back to the home page.

    I tried wrapping the div statement in the header code in a “<a href?" line but then the header was shown twice in IE (but not in Chrome or Firefox).

    Also, how can I justify the recent post links. I have them underneath a links section and the two sections left-justify differently (as does the archives section).

    Thank you very much for any help you can offer.

  23. An update came through today and there is an error being generated when viewing post pages

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function has_post_thumbnail() in /home/impactim/public_html/pws/wp-content/themes/fresh-ink-magazine/header.php on line 21

    • I’m sorry to everyone experiencing this bug! It may take a few days before the WordPress team gets around to posting my fixed theme. In the meantime you can fix it by removing this code from the header.php file:

      <?php
      // Check if this is a post or page, if it has a thumbnail, and if it's a big one
      if ( is_singular() &&
      has_post_thumbnail( $post->ID ) &&
      ( /* $src, $width, $height */ $image = wp_get_attachment_image_src( get_post_thumbnail_id( $post->ID ), 'post-thumbnail') ) &&
      $image[1] >= HEADER_IMAGE_WIDTH ) :
      // We have a new header image!
      echo get_the_post_thumbnail( $post->ID, 'post-thumbnail' );
      else : ?>

      <?php endif; ?>

  24. The corrected version is now live. If you are using version 1.04 and you are getting errors please upgrade to version 1.05.

  25. Hello! I love the theme, thanks for that.
    But can anyone tell me how to remove the ‘written by’ and the name? Because I write it al myself..
    thanks a lot!

  26. HI! i just updated my theme to 1.05 and now when I press the about me or contact me pages it says that page cannot be found only my home page shows… Please advise…. Thanks

  27. Hi,

    is it possible, to remove sidebar for spezific pages?

    I got simplepressforum and there i dont need the sidebars.

    Thx, Frank

  28. Google says to paste some code into the header section of my home page. How can I find the home page?

    Someone suggested pasting into header.php — how can I find that? Do I have to use an FTP client?

    • I have updated the download link above to the newest version. You might also see an update for it under your “Updates” tab.

  29. This is a very nice theme but it displays to wide in my browser. How do I modify the theme to reduce its overall width to fit browser window and not have to use horizontal scrollbars to view rest of pages and posts?

  30. Good Morning! I chose this template for my new blog, LOVE IT! I do have a question though. The header background I chose to customize with makes reading the sub title difficult. Can you tell me where in the header code I would find that so that I can change the font color and size? Thank you so much!

  31. Started a blog for the first time, love this theme. I am, however, wondering how to change the font size/color in the header? Particularly in the sub title line. Can you please tell me where in the template editor I can find it? Thanks so much…

  32. I’ve run my blog through http://webpagetest.org and got two 404 errors in regards to this theme.

    The first I managed to solve by deleting a single line in style.css: “background-image: url(images/circle.jpg);”. In looking through the theme directory, there is no “circle.jpg” file to be found and upon deletion of said line, the theme still renders without issue.

    The second error is being called from the “header.php” file. Page source returns this line: “” in reference to the “print.css” file, while in “header.php” it is coded as such: “<link type="text/css" media="print" rel="stylesheet" href="/print.css” />”.

    I managed to solve this second issue by changing href to “/print.css” />”, as referenced here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_template_directory_uri

    This is a wonderful theme! Keep up the great work!

    • Ich entschuldige mich, aber Sie können nur zur Nutzung dieser Website, wenn Sie einen selfhosted wordpress installieren sind aus wordpress.org

  33. After installation, this is what it says when trying to select the theme ”
    Fatal error: Call to undefined function add_theme_support() in /home/fitezine/domains/fitchristian.com/public_html/blog/wp-content/themes/fresh-ink-magazine/functions.php on line 131″

  34. I’m having trouble fixing a couple items.

    How do I get the main menu to not add a drop down from the parent pages? I want to disable the hover/drop down feature.

    How do I close comments on certain pages/posts?

    Would you be able to help?

    Thanks

    • You can change your menu or eliminate drop downs from the “Menus” section under “Appearance.”

      To disable comments on a page or post you can do so by clicking the “Screen Options” button in the top right corner of a page or post you then make sure “Discussions” is selected. Now you should be able to scroll towards the bottom of the page and under the “Discussions” section you can disable the comments just for that page or post.

  35. Thank you I was able to fix the comments, but am still having trouble with the drop down.

    I go to the “Appearance” then “Menus” (where I have 1 custom menu created) and still dont seen how I can eliminate drop downs. Is there a button I’m looking for? Any other suggestions? Thanks

  36. Hi there, Thank you for a gorgeous theme! Can you tell me, is it possible for posts on the home page to be in reverse date order? As in reverse of when they were published? Or is there another way to keep my Welcome post at the top of the home page? Thank you!

  37. Greetings and thanks for the wonderful FREE WP Theme,

    I love this theme since it has all the feature our small church will need AND at the right price, LOL, the same amount I am receiving for volunteering to build the site, Free Yippee!! I know this might seem trivial since MOST people won’t even pay attention to this detail but since I did notice it I thought I would mention the fact that the Left hand side part of the “MAGAZINE” contains words although very light and nondescript which really don’t need to be on a church site. Words like pregnancy, pregnancies, high blood pressure, type II diabetes etc. I was wondering if there would be another file (jpg, gif or whatever that file is) with possibly bible verses and or words on it available or maybe a simple way for me to make my own and install it.

    Thanks in advance for any help or advice you may give

    Jon (First shot at a web site guy)

  38. Why does this theme show 2 columns, but only one is displaying for me? I have moved a widget over into it, but still nothing. I can’t find anywhere that allows me to change it from one column to two… please help!

  39. Hi love the magazine idea, however not being a whizz kid on computers I am really struggling. Can you please help I want to dump written pages from magazines I have written mostly with artwork into my webpage, so when I click on the page it opens up a static document on that page, it would be like viewing a page from a magazine on my webpage. I have scanned the pages as pdf files and converted into a word document but when I try to copy either format all I can do is view it as an attachment on the web page, any advice would be fantastic! Thanks Tom.

  40. First of all, LOVE the theme. It is very nicely done. Thanks!

    How do I get the Font size for the titles of the posts to be smaller and how do I change the color of the “written by” which is now in red?

  41. Hi, I had changed the blog name to a logo but since last upgrade of the theme it give me an error every time I try to change the header.php
    Could you please help me?! Thanks.

  42. I’ve added Analytics tracking code to an old blog I had, but which file to use in the Fresh Ink theme has me stumped. I’m finding only one lone tag in the header.php file, and inserting my Analytics code before that doesn’t seem to have any effect. Wrong file? Wrong location?
    Thank you!

  43. Hello. I went to open my website that I use the Fresh Ink Magazine theme. It is all messed up. The posts do not fit on the papge. They start on the left. The right column widgets are at the bottom of the page. What happened? I use internet explorer. Other people can view it correctly on their computers. But it is “off” on my computer. any suggestions?

  44. Briliant theme, really like it and using it, thank you! I do howover have a problem with calendar widget as it’s too big for the sidebar. Any ideas what’s the best solution for it to fit?
    Thank you

  45. Hello Again, Can you suggest the best way in which I can make the header pics auto rotate slide show style… Which plug in may be the best to do this for me….

    Thanks much for your help…

    Pete.

  46. I love your template, thank you so much.

    I am having an issue though, the comment link on the posts page just sends me back to the top of the page. I have checked the link in the discussion page to activate it, but still it won’t allow me to post comments on that page. The weird thing is that it allows it on the static pages. What am I doing wrong?

  47. Hi I have this theme and I love it.
    Question, I would like to upload multiple images at a time and add a slideshow – how can I do that? At the moment, it only allows me to click on one photo at a time to insert into post and I don’t see any options for a slideshow. I’m on wordpress and using fresh ink 1.03.

    Thanks.

  48. I have loved this theme for quite some time and yet I feel it is time to move on. I loved the way it made my website really have the look and feel of a magazine.

    It felt as if the template was “custom made” for my website. Perhaps I will have the opportunity to use this template again.

    • You can hide the category tags for your post by inserting this into the bottom of your style.css sheet

      .postmetadata {
      display: none;
      }

    • You can edit the title and subtitle by altering these three styles in the style.css sheet:

      #blogtitle {
      position: absolute;
      left: 92px;
      top: -1px;
      }
      #blogtitle h2{
      color: #000;
      font-family: “Times New Roman”, Times, serif;
      font-size: 55px;
      font-weight: bolder;
      }
      #tag {
      position: absolute;
      font-family: “Times New Roman”, Times, serif;
      font-size: 14px;
      left: 127px;
      top: 98px;
      }

  49. Hi,

    Have tried unsuccessfully to create child theme for Fresh Ink Magazine. I created the fresh-ink-magazine-child folder as described in the WordPress codex and have even tried adding (in addition to the style.css override file) header.php but it appears to have no impact on the parent theme. Is there something I must do to allow a child theme to impact Fresh Ink?

    Thanks!
    Herb

  50. I have enjoyed using your theme, but unfortunately, since I’ve recently updated, you can no longer get to my home page by clicking the title in the header. How do I fix this? I’m not experienced w/using code.

    • Hi Aimee,

      You can add a home page by creating a menu in the dashboard in Appearance>Menus. You will create the name of your menu and then select that name from the drop down to make sure it is the one being used. Now from here you can add links to your menu by clicking on pages or post that you want to be in the menu and then pressing the “add to menu” button. To create a home button you will use the custom links section on this same page. Under url put your domain and under label put “Home” and then click add to menu and then save the menu. I hope this helps 🙂

  51. I’ve been having fun with your design, tweaking it for my blog “Observations along the Road” (http://blog.cahighways.org/), which I just moved over from Livejournal. I’ve already tweaked colors and figured out how to increase the spacing for line items.

    What I’d like to do now is change the date form to be 20xx and include the time, and I can’t figure out how to do that. Changing the functions in the page.php file does nothing, nor does changing the settings. Suggestions? (I’d also welcome your comments on the blog itself)

  52. Thanks for the theme. It is a neat looking theme for the book type of appearance. A little bit different than the normal web page ‘look’.

  53. I love this template. It has been BY FAR one of the easiest to use and customize out of all the templates I have ever experienced. I am having one issue tho that I could use your help with. I am trying to change the color of the link on the menu bar. It glows red when you hover over it and that is not complimentary to my brand colors. Also I would like to change the color of the drop down box it is currently dark grey, and the area that is highlighted when you scroll over the option is black I would like to change this from black as well. If you could direct me where to do this in the stylesheet I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you! Please take a look at what I am referring to by visiting My site at http://www.danilovestrong.com

    Thanks Dani

  54. Hi, I’ve downloaded your theme and really liked the look of it, so I modified it to make it match my needs.
    If anyone wants to remove the sidebar for specific pages, you’ll need to create a template and modify the style.css file.
    Here’s my template for a full-width page:

    And this is the fullpagemarg style in the style.css
    #fullpagemarg {
    float: left;
    width: 800px;
    position: relative;
    margin-left: 200px;
    margin-top: 25px;
    margin-right: 10px;
    clear: left;
    }
    Paste this basically anywhere in the style.css file.

    Now, go to your page in the admin console and select the template called Full page (no sidebar)

  55. Oops, the code didn’t get copied
    Code:
    Code:

    Code:

    Sorry for the “Code:” at the beginning of each line. I think php code gets filtered from comments.

  56. I love the theme. I am having 2 issues so far.
    1. I would like to be able to change the font and color of the Blog title as I use photgraphs and sometimes a dark font is more visable than a lighter one and vice versa.

    2. I would like to be able to reduce the size of the post titles, remove the underline, and change font.

    I read earlier comment and your response about going editing title and sub title on the style.css sheet. I have change font and color, updated and no change in theme.

    I am not very html savvy.

    Thanks
    Bill

  57. Hi,

    I would like to display article count after each category on the right side bar(like politics(12)). How to do it?

    thanks for this theme.

  58. Hi, I am using this theme and I really like it and change it a little bit. One small thing I can’t change and that’s why I am writing here. In sidebar i can see list of posts, pages etc… But length of posts, pages names in sidebar is too short, sidebar has space in rigt side for more longer names but I can’t find in style.css file wthat should i change for solving this problem. Can you right what block should I change for increasing words length per line in sidebar? Thank you. And if it interesting for you – here is my web site: http://euphoria-book.com/ Sorry, it is in russian language.

  59. Love this template! I’m using it for a dog rescue site I’m working on. They have published a book to sell and collect $ to buy foster animal properties so the theme works perfectly! How can I remove the HTML tags from under the comment box?

  60. Fantastic theme, and here comes the but . . .

    Just two things. One was the fact that you can’t return to the home page by clicking on the title, but I see that answered above so I will try that.

    The other is that all the post titles are underlined. Titles would look much better if they were not underlined. Fix?

    Thanks again for the great job.

  61. On second though, the fix I saw was only to create a home button, but what I was looking for is a way to make clicking on the title return the reader to the home page, which is the standard.

  62. Thank you so much for creating such a fresh, interesting, and clean theme! I looked through MANY themes before deciding on this one, and I am very pleased!
    I am still learning and tweaking it.
    I keep trying to remove the link that is in the black bar beneath the picture; but, I cannot figure out why it is there in the first place. I am sure its my error. 🙂
    ( http://www.welladventure.com/ )
    If you have any advice, that would be appreciated.
    I was excited to see that you create many themes for churches. I didn’t realize that when I downloaded the theme.
    Blessings to you!

  63. OK.. This may sound silly.. When I closed my browser and reopened it, my dashboard is gone and I cannot find my administrative log in link. That is how I have logged in with my previous theme that I had for two years.. so now I do not know of any other way to access my admin tools.
    (But I did find out how to fix my previous post question prior to closing my browser..
    For those who have a similar experience: My Custom Menus that were on the side effected what showed on the black bar just below the Header. It seems the Custom Menu on the bottom of the sidebar shows up in top.. but not all Custom Menus. So I rearranged my Custom Menus so that the bottom one was “About” Which is what I wanted on the black bar.)

  64. Ok.. Sorry to be filling your page up. I think this is the last time. I found the solution to my login issue. I went to my domain/wp-admin/nav-menus.php and was able to enter my password there.
    So, thanks for putting up with my posts. Hopefully they will help someone who feels just as silly as I do. 🙂

  65. Hi! Great theme – I really enjoy the look and feel of it so far!

    Any chances you’re planning to make it translatable, with for example PO-edit? Or is it already ready?? I couldn’t find any .PO- or .MO-files…

    Thanks!
    /Andreas

    • You can do this in the Menu section under Appearance

      You can add your home link on this page by using the Custom Links section on the side

    • Yes, you can do this in your theme editor in the file index.php by deleting the following code:

      Written By: < ?php the_author(); ?>
